Tear it down and start again

Clarby has been worried about the direction of the US for several years now, however he's not sure it is in the hands of the government to fix it.  He really believes it starts with the people.

A few good signs:
 - Price of oil dropping way back down to earth
 - OJ Simpson headed to jail
 - Plaxico Burress being disciplined

Now if the following could follow suit.
 - America needs to realize what is truly important, is it the kindergarten or first grade teacher that helps their children learn to read and write for $35,000 a year or the Assistant Buyer for some hip clothing company that makes $150,000 a year?
 - What about the policeman on patrol or the Hollywood starlet blowing her nose with cocaine?
 - Should we bail out the hotshot investment broker that was supposed to help you put away money for later but he'll see bookoohs of cash now?

There has to be some way the people can re-establish who the wealthy in this country should be.  Maybe wealthy is the wrong word, but what professions truly add something to the lives of others.

If Clarby were to rank the Top 15 professions (that should be paid the most) and the Bottom 10 (should be paid the least) they would be as follows

Top 15

  1. K – 12 teacher
  2. Farmer/Rancher
  3. ER surgeon
  4. Everyday doctor/dentist
  5. Police officer
  6. Firefighter
  7. Soldier
  8. Medical researcher
  9. Everyday banker
  10. Builder
  11. Carpenter
  12. Trucker or other person who gets things to and from
  13. Electrician
  14. Plumber
  15. Clergyman

Bottom 10

  1. Professional athlete
  2. Blogger
  3. Media figureheads
  4. Actor
  5. Musician
  6. Assistant buyer
  7. Personal assistant
  8. Day trader
  9. Color commentator
  10. Model

Notice that the bottom 10 are more or less hobbies?  Our country has become so obsessed with them that they have become way too influential.

The top 15 could almost go in any order.  It baffles me that the bottom 10 continue to dominate what so many want to be when they grow up and who so many look up to.
