I took geometry class in middle school and before that I learned about shapes in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and through various Mattel and Fisher Price games, so I think I know shapes fairly well. I do not believe the rest of the internet using world understands shapes.
If you've ever been on a social networking site you are familiar with; slim/slender, athletic, average, a few extra pounds, more to love and body builder. Now my eyes have deceived me before but unless mirror manufacturers have started selling the funhouse mirror to the public I'm certain there are a lot of people that need to go back to kindergarten. Slim/Slender means a person is skinny. Athletic means a person is toned/firm. Average means a person is healthy, maybe a little toned, not really skinny and no real flab anywhere. A few extra pounds means a person has a few pounds they could lose to look average, key word a few (they aren't far off) and more to love means a person is overweight significantly. Body builder means a person is full of muscles and bulky.
Any doctor would agree with the above shapes as would any preschool teacher or child. So why do people lie to themselves? A person doesn't fool anyone by saying they have an athletic body when in fact they are a body builder. Seriously a few extra pounds is not a bad thing, it doesn't mean a person is fat, but it also doesn't mean they are average and it certainly doesn't mean they are slim/slender. If a person wants to be average then shed the few extra pounds. "Tom" made these categories trying not to hurt anyone's feelings and so it would be easy to select what a person actually is. But again people don't understand. A circle is not a square and a square is not a circle, it can sometimes be a rectangle.
Circle gets the sqaure...
